Ao-Alphapets
Ao alphabets: This is how we were taught from Class A in 1974. There are 27 letters in Ao-alphabets. In addition to the 26 letters of the English Ao-alphabet has an extra letter, "Ü" at the end. "A" and "G" is not pronounced as in the English alphabet.
But back then, there was no instrumental back-ground music. The only back-ground music was our classmates' natural voices in varied pitches (that was enough for fun).
At today's PUTU, children learn the alphabets together with music like this in the video below.
Video: Ao-alphabets
PUTU : (tapu atu, a layer or stratum of people rising up, coming on to the stage of action) a generation, a period of time, as Yakob putu the generation of Jacob's time.
MOPUNG SANGER : mopung is probably Mongsen for majung bad
KOSA SANGER : kosa probably means swaggering, conceited
RIYONG SANGER : riyong probably means given to war
MEDEM SANGER : medem is for abang medem united in purpose and decisions
MEJEN SANGER : mejen those who do not lie, do not depart from agreements
In a particular period in general the putu in one village may be different from the putu of a neighbouring village because when a new tatar menden comes into office the putu name of that village is changed, and the tatar menden customs vary in different villages.
